First words

In millions of ways, Ellie suffers from second child syndrome.  We just don't hover over her the way we did with Carter.  We let her drink from Carter's sippy cup if she gets her hand on it. She climbs on the furniture and we say, "Eh, she'll be ok."  We let her get messy and sticky and grubby and think, "Eh, we'll hose her down at bathtime."  It's just the nature of being a second baby...mom and dad are too busy to sweat the small stuff :)

One thing that I have really tried to maintain, even in spite of the 'second child syndrome,' is keeping a good record of Ellie's firsts...first time crawling, walking, smiling, etc.  It's finally time to record her first words!  She's been babbling incoherently a lot lately, but I've finally felt like she truly has some words, and it's time to make sure that i don't forget them.  For now, she says:

Mama (her first and favorite word ;)
Dada (ok, tied for her favorite)
Nana (nanny)
Pa
Pop
Meme (or close enough)
Nu Nu (pacifier)
Bok (book)
BuhBuh (Bubbles for her favorite Bubble Bubbles book)
Beh Beh (baby)
Bah (bath)
Bye Bye
Wa (waffles haha)
Uh oh (we hear this one about 25 times per day :)

I have to say, the first time I heard her say book, I was the proudest mama around!  Of course this English major would have a daughter who loves books :)  And her baby dolls are her other favorite thing in this world - so I suspect she will be a girly girl like her mama.
