Well, it only took a year and 3 months...

But I finally finished Carter's 1st Year Scrapbook! I tried a couple of different websites, including My Publisher and Picaboo, but I was never happy with the software, it took forever, and I got frustrated.

Then I found scrapblog.com. I loved how customizable it was and how fun it was to use. I finished his book, amidst all the sadness that came with this week, in only a little over a week.

It plays kind of fast embedded here, but if you click on the scrapblog link and then hit full screen, you can slow it down a bit.

Enjoy.

Pumpkin Patch v.2

Today was yet another gorgeous day, so we decided to try our hand at some more pumpkin patch pictures. Miss Julia and her mom Lindsay were already heading out there, so Ryan and I rushed out the door this morning to get there in time to visit!

Unforunately, Carter wasn't feeling very well, but he had fun anyway. He crashed afterwards though; let's hope he's feeling better soon!

The pumpkin patch was really cute - they had a fun jump, face painting, snacks/food for sale, pumpkins for sale (of course), and a little maze. They also had a mini zoo with ducks, chickens, goats, and a baby pig named Bella. Both Julia and Carter identified Bella as a "dog!!" We need some more diverse animal books, I guess.

Here are some pics of our lovely day!

He definitely loves his BFF Julia!

Looking for the perfect "bump-in"

Being silly:

Don't tell Julia's dad that she's kissing boys!!

Carter insisted on pulling this wagon around the whole festival...

15 month stats

Carter had his 15 month checkup with the wonderful Dr. Huval on Thursday. He cried the minute we walked in the exam room! He must have remembered it from his last appointment. Luckily the nurse allowed him to play with her pen and all was right with the world again. Here are his stats:

Height : 32 inches (75th percentile)
Weight : 25lbs 8oz (70th percentile)

I guess that explains why my back hurts all the time!

So Dr. Huval comes in and Carter decides to put on his show, announcing and pointing out in random order:

Elmo!
Pen!
Paper!
Button!
Eye!
Toes!
Shoes!
Sock!
Ball!

Notice the exclamation point because Carter only speaks in exclamations. Dr. Huval chatted with him a bit, and he even cried when she left! She is really such a wonderful pediatrician and we feel so lucky to have her. She's super patient with Carter and with us, and always takes her time when we are there to see her. We love her.

Carter got one immunization shot and got his first flu shot, so let's cross our fingers for a healthy winter.

Carter's First Haircut

didn't go so well...

but look at how cute he is now...

German Fest!

So for a while now we've been hearing about the German Fest in Robert's Cove, but we've never had a chance to attend. This year, it just fell on a gorgeous weekend so along with our friends Chris and Jill, we made the trek out there. It's out in the country, but the grounds are really nice and we had a great time. Imagine the May Fest with German beer :)

It cost $6 to get in (if you are over 16). My favorite part about it was that there was a huge toddler play area - Carter had a great time! There was chalk to draw on the sidewalks, a mini-train the kids could ride, toddler slides, a sand pit, and several fun jumps. Carter also impressed the crowds by shouting "bee-uh" at appropriate intervals...ask Josie, she'll vouch for it!

Makeshift Pumpkin Patch

So we took a trip to our own local pumpkin patch, to pay homage to the adorable pictures we were able to get last year with Carter. The difference between then and now is pictures like this:

and pictures like this:

I swear, it is impossible to take pictures of Carter these days! He does not like to keep still and gets very upset (read: total and complete meltdown) when we try to make him do anything he does not want to do. I try to think positively though - he's just asserting his independence!! So no, really, we did get some cute pictures. We will go back later when they get their huge pile of pumpkins (or "bumpins" as Carter calls them), but for now:
