Carter's new favorite game

Sutton and TT came to Lafayette this weekend for a little Tinsel and Treasures, and we were all hanging out this morning, enjoying some coffee and Sunday-morning cinnamon rolls. The boys were playing around the house, when suddenly I realized I hadn't seen Carter in a few minutes.

Now he's learned in the last few weeks how to open and close doors, and isn't afraid of the dark, so it isn't that unusual for him to disappear into another corner of the house and play for a bit by himself. But I since it had been a few minutes since I'd heard from him, I asked Toye and Ryan where he was.

Ryan said he thought he'd seen him head in the back into our closet, so he headed there to check. No Carter. He walked over into Carter's room, and Toye and I followed him. No Carter. Checked the closet. No Carter.

I started to panic a bit. Toye and I walked together into the baby's room and looked around. No Carter. I opened the closet doors. No Carter.

Then I heard a giggle.

He had perched himself behind the rocking chair in the baby's room with a couple of toys and stood up and said "boo!" from behind the chair! He's such a good hider! haha

We had a few minutes of worry, but overall, it just cracked us all up because he totally gave himself away with the giggles. What a funny boy :)

Carter's Sweet Dance Moves

Tinsel and Treasures!!!

We wait all year for this, and headed out there tonight for a little Christmas in September! I've been talking up Santa Claus to Carter for weeks, and he was so excited to see Santa. He kept telling me on the way there that we were going to a party at Santa's house! haha

However....we got there...and headed over to Santa...and...

He was having none of it! "NO SANTA! I go back to Amie! I go back to Nanny! Noooo!!" So we gave up and didn't get a picture with Santa :(

He seemed angry and upset for much of the rest of the afternoon, but finally perked up a bit. We all had fun shopping and will be heading back on Saturday with Toye!

Chugga chugga choo choo Santa! (much more likeable than the real Santa)

I think I might like that one...

Thrilled to be out of the stroller

Hanging around the house

Everyone watches tv like this, right?

How does this work? Maybe he'll be an engineer like Daddy...

Pasghetti, mmmm.

Thanks to Meme and Pop for bringing Carter home today...I had a meeting in Baton Rouge and I didn't get home until late. They were also nice enough to bring some spaghetti for dinner! Carter loooooved it!

Making his best sad face when I told Ryan that Carter's bug bites were bad...haha

Loving the novelty of those long noodles!

Aaaand back to being a typical two year old!

Nah! Happy again :)

Who's coming to visit? SUTTON!!

Anytime you ask Carter who is coming to visit, he always squeals, "SUTTON!" I guess he's just excited :) Well luckily this weekend, Sutton did come by on Sunday (Josh and Toye headed to the UL-LSU game on Saturday and passed through Abbeville on their way home on Sunday). So we had a great visit at lunch on Sunday, and Carter and Sutton had so much fun dancing and playing with all the great toys at Amie and PaRandy's house.

Look at those gorgeous curls!

Carter's sweet moves!

This could have kept them entertained for HOURS...

Who needs toys when you have bowls? And notice Sutton's tiny hands trying to get in on the action! LOL

Oh the dancing (I have it on video - will add later...)

I MADE A PIE

From SCRATCH. It was so pretty...I hated to eat it. But I did anyway :)

It was delicious! The recipe is here.

Sweet cousins

Sutton came to play this weekend and we tried to get some pictures of the boys after breakfast on Monday. You might call this a big fat FAIL! haha But they are so cute that you can't help but love them anyway ;)

Sick baby boy

My heart broke last night for Carter :(
After noticing Carter had some blood in his ear over the weekend, yesterday I took Carter into the ENT to check it out and we found out he has double ear infections (in the ear with a tube and the ear without). Well last night, we gave him some meds from the ENT before bed (decongestant and ear drops) and then he went to sleep just fine around 7:45pm.

At 10:30pm, I went to bed, only to wake up about a half hour later and heard him crying. I turned on the monitor and he was sitting up in his bed. I thought maybe his ears hurt, so I fixed a dose of Motrin and walked into his room.

He had his back to me and when he heard me come in, he turned his head around and had thrown up everywhere! It was awful. And he just said to me in the saddest, most pitiful voice, 'I spit on my pillow :(' Seriously, I started to tear up because my heart was so broken to see my little boy all covered in throw up. It makes me sick to think of him getting sick and throwing up for the first time ever, and being so afraid and confused about what was happening. He was also shaking, I guess because he was cold and wet.

So, I got him into a warm bath (while he continued to cry) and yelled for Ryan to come strip the bed. Then I rocked and cuddled Carter and he just kept saying, "No, Mom. I don't spit on my pillow." I think he meant he didn't want to throw up again. :(

So I put him back down for bed on some fresh sheets and he fell right asleep. He threw up just a little bit at some point later in the night, but he didn't wake up again so I didn't see it until this morning. It wasn't nearly as bad as the first time though.

I'm thinking it's from the meds from the ENT or maybe just from the congestion etc making him feel yucky.

I just feel like crying every time I think about his sweet little face looking up at me all confused and sick :( Let's hope this is the end of it and he can start to recover soon!

And a few more cute shots!

Thank goodness for some cooler (non-90 degree weather!) Of course we celebrated by heading outside for a bit!

The child clearly is deprived and has no toys.

This looks like a nice place for a nap.

This is what I get when I tell him to say 'cheese'

And the result of what happens when you hand a toddler a camera. Not bad!
