9 weeks to go!

I just had my most embarrassing moment as a parent (so far)

Carter and I headed over to the library this afternoon to get some books and do some playing around. We sat down in the kid section, and he wanted to get on the little toddler computers, so I got him all set up. It requires headphones to hear the sound, so I put those on him and then got the program running.

All of a sudden, I hear a little rumble come from him, and because he had headphones on, he begain laughing and talking LOUDER THAN NORMAL, and he shouts, "EWW!! Stinky! I farted! It's stinky!!"

I guess it's just the way it will be. Welcome to life with a boy :)

Like mother, like son

Carter just walked in holding a milkshake from Marble Slab and said, 'Here Mom. It's your milkshake. Share with me.'

I just made his life...

10 weeks to go!

and poor Carter was feeling under the weather this morning, but he still wanted in on the pictures:

Not a morning person, I guess?

We went out last night to see Dora the Explorer Live (more on that to come later), and didn't get home and get Carter into bed until about 9:00pm. So we were all tired this morning.

Now Carter and I have this thing, where when he's feeling stressed or anxious about bedtime, I tell him that "Mama always comes get you in the mornings." He repeats it back to me when he seems worried, etc.

Well this morning, in our Dora hangover, I went into his room to get him and he buried his face in his pillow and said, "No, Mom! Don't come get me in the mornings!"

Well, that was traumatic.

The good news is that his murmur appears to simply be an innocent murmur. It will be monitored by his pediatrician but otherwise, we're free and clear.

But the appointment was awful! We go into a completely barren room except for the exam table, two black folding chairs, and a trash can. Nothing on the walls and it felt like a coffin. I was getting really claustrophobic.

So the nurse says they have to redo his EKG (we did one at the hospital already), but no biggie. Carter didn't cry AT ALL when we did it at the hospital, probably because the tech there was super sweet and awesome with him, not to mention he could sit on my lap. Well today, they made him lie down on the table to do the test...he started screaming the second we had laid him down :( I had to blow in his face and try to bribe him with suckers.

Then the doctor came in, he cried, etc. She said she thinks it's an innocent murmur but wants an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) to be sure his anatomy is just fine, then we can go. So we go into another room with the u/s machine, and again, we have to lay him down...and again, he SCREAMS. So she's trying to distract him, but I couldn't really get to him and he continues to just wail and cry. Finally the doctor says that if he doesn't stop crying, she was going to have to SEDATE him with medication! I said, Oh no!! So I moved around so I could be by his face and just kept talking to him and blowing in his face to cool him off, and telling him stories and he FINALLY calmed down for five minutes so she got the pics she needed. Thank goodness!

And the good news is that it was all normal and we are done with the cardiologist! She did say the murmur will probably get louder/quieter depending on when he's sick, etc...but for the most part, he should grow out of it and it's not a big deal. :)

All I know is that I'm glad it's over with!

Can we really be talking about Halloween already?!

With the new baby coming on/around Halloween, I figured it might be best for me to plan ahead and start thinking about what Carter should dress up as this year. Here was our conversation in the car this morning:

Mama: Carter, do you want to be a fireman for Halloween?
Carter: No, I'm a Carter!!
Mama: No, you can be a Carter AND a fireman! You just dress up in a costume. Ok. What do you want to be for Halloween?
Carter: Toys!!
Mama: What kind of toys?
Carter: Brown toys!
Mama: Ok, I see where you are going. No. Halloween is not like Christmas. You do not get toys. You WEAR a costume. So, do you want to be a horsie?
Carter: No. I'm gonna be a Carter!

Seriously, he's the sweetest kid ever!

My mom picked Carter up from Meme's house today so she could get in some Carter-snuggles before she goes back to work tomorrow. So I went over to pick him up this afternoon, and as usual, Mom baked some cookies and Carter was sitting at the table eating one when I walked in.

I said, "Hey buddy! You're eating some cookies?" And he said, "Yep." Then he grabbed his cookie, broke it in half, and HANDED IT TO ME! What a sweet baby!! I don't know how I got so lucky :)

So Carter and I were playing with his Aquadoodle...

and he handed me his Aquadoodle pen and said, 'Mama. Draw me a bear.'

I said, 'A bear? I can't really draw, buddy.'

So he says, 'Ok. Draw me an octopus.'

LOL! I said, 'Uh, I can't really draw that either, but I'll try!!'

Ultrasound today!

And the news is great! The choroid plexus cyst that Baby Girl had at our 17 week ultrasound is now official resolved! There was no sign of it. We are so glad to be able to move on and focus on her arrival without the nagging question of some health issues. Let's hope everything continues to be 'golden' as Dr. Schorr said today :)

They also confirmed at the ultrasound that she is definitely still a GIRL! So no returning to do...haha.

She measured perfectly at about the 50th percentile for almost everything, weighing in at about 2lbs 3oz. EXCEPT her head is in the 75th percentile - not cool! haha She's also in the breech position, which explains the attacks on my bladder by little feet...Dr. Schorr did say that she has plenty of time to move and will probably flip up and down daily for several more weeks.

Anyway, the pictures from today were not that great, but here is a profile picture and then a picture of her teeny tiny baby foot :)
