BFFs from before they even entered the world

I truly think one of the sweetest things in the world is having a baby at the same time as your friends. I'm lucky enough to have had two little ones at or near the same time as my best friends and my sister-in-law/best friend, but one of the neatest experiences was sharing my pregnancy and now two-weeks-apart baby girls with my BFF Katie. Katie and I have been best friends since we sat next to each other in our 6th grade class, and seeing our little mini-me(s) together is absolutely PRECIOUS! We got together last night at Rhythms on the River, and Chloe and Ellie already seem to have taken up their moms' passions for reading :)

I swear, she didn't pinch her ;)

After all that fun, Ellie was plain tuckered out!

Secret Life of Boys

Should I tie them together?

Because Ellie is officially on the move! For the past two weeks, since shortly after she turned 6 months old, she's been able to army crawl herself around the house. It's sort of a 'Worm' style maneuver, but it gets her where she wants to go...and gets Mama sweating when I put her down in one place only to turn around and see that she is no where to be found!

I've been given some lovely suggestions by my friends (?) to:

Tether Carter and Ellie together
Drop her in the pack and play
Baby gate the house
Strap Ellie to Carter's back

;) It's just hard to keep track of both of my little movers as they scamper around the house. And no sooner had I gotten used to her crawling, but then she learned to PULL HERSELF TO STANDING!!

What do I do now?? I am not ready for this!! The worst part is that she knows how to get up, but she can't get down! So she pulls herself up, looks over at me and Ryan and gives a huge grin showing how proud she is...then she ever so UNgracefully plops down and cries because she scares herself. Poor girly ;)

So that's us in the past few weeks - add in the kidney stone I've been fighting for a few days and thankfully my parents and in-laws have been gracious and helpful enough to keep the kids so I can recover.

Is it June yet??

Is it June yet??

The last few weeks have been CA-RAZY busy! Between a trip to Shreveport for Sutton's birthday, my mom and dad's kitchen being remodeled (so we've been eating out with them a lot), Josh and Toye came in last weekend and again this week/weekend, Mother's Day, Award ceremonies at VC, Graduation/Class Night ceremonies at VC, soon swimming lessons for Carter - PHEW! We just haven't had time to take a breath. I'm so glad this weekend was pretty slow. We headed out to Eunice for a mini-photo session with Hope Brown, the photographer who took Ellie's newborn pictures, and I can't wait to see them. Other than that, we've just been hanging out as much as we can and enjoying the weather. While it's miserably hot, I know that it's only getting hotter so we are doing what we can outside right now.

Here are some pictures from the last couple of weeks:

Still hanging on to those blue eyes...

So pretty

Carter's mad photography skills

Miss E's 6 month appt

I'm way delayed (I have two kids 2 and under! Who can blame me?)

Stats:
Weight: 16lb 10oz (60%)
Height: 26 1/4in (75%)

She got her shots and hardly cried at all!

Happy Birthday Duts!

Sutton's 2nd birthday was May 1, so we headed up to Shreveport to celebrate with a crawfish boil and some good family fun.  The weather was really unexpectedly hot and sunshiney, so we broke out the sprinklers and baby pools and the kids had a great time splashing away.

Happy Birthday to my precious little Duts ;)

30 is the new 20.

I had a lovely 30th birthday celebration last week. I was awoken by pudgy little arms giving me a huge hug and a card with his name and a heart on it ;) I also got some of my favorite perfume:

as well as the amazing MacBook Pro that I am currently typing on.  My sister and mom treated me to a delicious lunch at Subway (hee hee) and then where else would I go for dinner except La Fondas?  Yum!  So I'm taking it in stride and with my precious family, I know the 30s will be the happiest decade of my life (so far ;)
