In case you were wondering where I've been, I am sad to report the untimely and tragic death of my beloved Nikon. It was so tragic that I couldn't even bear to talk about it before now. So here goes.
A few weeks ago, I was snapping pictures of Carter playing in the bathtub, and I put the camera on the counter. I took him out of the tub and into his room to get dressed, when he started acting silly. So I went back into the bathroom to grab my camera, and when I stepped away, the strap wrapped around a knob from the top drawer and it pulled my camera out of my hands. I watched in slow motion as it fell to the ground. Luckily I was able to break some of the fall with my foot (practically breaking my toe in the process, but that was a small price to pay), but since my external flash was attached, it put extra pressure on the flash mount and practically pulled the casing apart. The camera had a huge crack in the top and the flash was no longer working.
Tears ensued, and unfortunately, I couldn't even blame it on Ryan. :) So I called Nikon and talked to a lovely customer service representative who promptly sent me the return information. And here we are. I shipped it out last week and hope to get a quote asap...and then they'll ship it back to me.
As a result, there aren't many new pictures of Carter unless I decide to rock my point and shoot camera again. I guess I'll have to break it out and get creative.
Get Well Soon, Nikon D40.
